Day 13: TGIF

Today's music: Glen Hansard - Slow Season

Ah, what a great day to have a Friday.

We had a staff meeting for the Sales and Pre-Sales department, where they delivered the PowerPoint that Raj gave at Field Ops (for those of you who were in Seattle).

Oddly enough, introducing Tim Poitevin was on the agenda, so I gave a little speech about my history at Concur and how I was attempting to help train the team while I'm here. They gave me a warm welcome, which was nice. Like I've said before, it's a good lot of people here.

Seeing as how it was Friday, Gerard (RSE) drove us to a pub called "The Pineapple" for lunch, and we all had a pint along with some gigantic sandwiches. Most meals in England are much smaller in size, but this pub had sandwiches larger than your head, which was great. When we got back to the office we were all quite (to use a British term) 'knackered', but we fought through it and put in a good second half of our day. Scott Drew (SC Nationals) and I did some more training, and I thought it went very well. He's a good man, and I think he'll do just fine once fully trained.

Barry was nice enough to give me a ride home, and despite the traffic I made it back to Bayswater for my scheduled haircut appointment, where I got perhaps the fastest haircut known to man. This dude wasn't even looking as he cut, which had me a bit worried. But I walked out with something resembling short hair, so I was happy.

My Halloween night was spent having dinner in my local pub (The Bayswater Inn), and although I expected more people dressed as Zombies and Vampires, pretty much everyone was dressed normally. They do indeed celebrate Halloween in Britain, but it's not as popular as it is in the States.

After that it was a quiet night at home. Nothing much to say other than goodnight.

Cheers, and Happy Halloween!
